Two separate load bearing masonry buildings were designed to be “stand-alone” but to appear as one unified composition at the street front.

Making the project even more challenging, a zoning change was required to enable construction of 2927 because an angled alley cuts the lot into a triangular shape; approval had to be obtained from the local alderman and neighborhood group.

The architectural language of the street facades was inspired by the powerful “Industrial Gothic” buildings of 1920’s Chicago, such as the Donnelly building near McCormick Place.
